Diabetes Education

Diabetes education is provided to people with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes as a part of the comprehensive diabetes evaluation. This is provided in a one to one format by our trained diabetes educators. The education covers diet, physical activity, insulin administration, behavioral modification and self-monitoring. People with diabetes in pregnancy will be assessed repeatedly for their dietary intakes to ensure that their diet is in keeping with the increasing demands of pregnancy.

Preventive Foot Care

All subjects with diabetes are advised to undergo a foot evaluation to look for neuropathy, foot deformities and blood flow. We use monofilament testing, biothesiometer and foot Doppler for foot testing. Preventive foot care advice is given to all patients. Minor podiatry procedure like corn removal and nail clipping is done by a podiatrist.

Adult Immunization

The center follows the CDC and ADA policies for immunization of patients with diabetes.  Hepatitis B, Pneumococcal Vaccine, Chicken pox vaccination and Influenza (Flu shots) are advised to patients who require them. The recommendations for immunizations are modified according to the most updated guidelines issued by professional organizations.

Pharmacy

Providence Pharmacy Services stores all common medications for patients with diabetes and endocrine problems. Medicines are sourced only from reputed manufacturers and stored in ideal conditions. We store human and analog Insulin, GLP-1 analogs (Dulaglutide and Liraglutide) and vaccines for people diabetes. In addition, accessories like glucometer, lancets, Frio valets and insulin pump supplies are also stored. The pharmacy dispenses other medications like Growth hormone, Testosterone, Teriparatide and Leuprolide. Insulin is stored at 2-8 C in temperature calibrated refrigerators and is monitored by a digital thermometers and temperature logs.
In addition to just dispensing the medication, our pharmacists and nurses will help teach use of insulin pens, glucometers and hormones. You can clear your doubt on medications with our trained pharmacists.

Home delivery services and pharmacy refill services

The pharmacy has home delivery services. Patient can avail this service by calling 8281181311. Medicines are delivered within and outside city limits subject to conditions. Insulin is delivered with cool packing and in thermal insulated bags to maintain the cold chain. You can request a refill of your prescription by uploading your prescription here

Telemedicine

3T program

Treat to target program(3T) helps people on insulin adjust their doses. People on insulin are encouraged to subscribe to this program. It educates on best practices of insulin injections, hypoglycemia management and instructs on telephonic insulin dose adjustments.

Safe Sharps Program

Managing diabetes generates medical wastes. This includes insulin needles, syringes, cartridges, lancets and pump consumable. Disposing this into the general waste management can be dangerous. It may harm people who sort wastes and can lead to plastic waste accumulation and harming the planet. Learn about disposing the sharps with our nurses.
